Young Lawyer of 2008
Eva Paterson will give the keynote address at the annual
meeting of the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, which
begins at 11:30 am, and will be held at the Chicago Hilton Hotel, Chicago,
Illinois. Ms. Paterson, president of the
Equal Justice Society, is known for her significant contributions to civil
rights, and for her innovative legal theories and strategies.
Civil rights activist Timuel D. Black, Jr will be honored for
his long history as an educator, community leader, and historian in the African
American community.
The Chicago Lawyers’ Committee will recognize Howrey, LLP for
the lead role played by the firm in addressing the issue of discriminatory
advertising on the internet.
Paulette Solinski, Associate General Counsel of Aon
Corporation, will accept the Corporate Leadership Award. Aon is being honored for its pro bono work.
W. Bryan Lytton of Latham & Watkins will be honored as
the Outstanding Young Lawyer of 2008 in recognition of his contribution to the
Fair Housing Project. "As an
attorney who believes strongly in giving back to my community and in equal
housing opportunity for all, it's a special honor for me to receive this
award," said Bryan Lytton. "This public interest work on behalf of
our community, particularly when children are the targets of discrimination, is
a priority for my firm’s pro bono program, and the collaboration with the
Chicago Lawyers' Committee has been both productive and gratifying."
