National Fair Housing Alliance & HUD Investigations Confirm Discrimination
CHICAGO, IL – On July 18, 2008, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a federal lawsuit against the real estate brokerage doing business as Re/Max East-West alleging discrimination on the basis of race and national origin in violation of the Fair Housing Act. Re/Max East-West is a major brokerage company serving Illinois’ DuPage and Cook Counties, including the neighborhoods of Elmhurst, Lombard, Villa Park and Bensenville.

CAFHA's annual Fair Housing Month event this past Tuesday (April 29th) was a smashing success. Roughly 60 folks attended the standing-room-only event at Access Living (thanks AL!). A full review including photos and videos from the panel discussion will be posted in the next few days.
Today through May 15th, 2008, CHAC will be accepting applications for the waiting list for a Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8). After the registration period closes, eligible applicants will be selected through a lottery for the 40,000 waiting list spots.
